Manchester City close gap on Arsenal after Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva claim victory over Newcastle United

Manchester City have closed EPL points gap on Arsenal following their Saturday early kickoff victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal look set to break Man City Premier League dominance with Pep Guardiola’s side trailing Arsenal 5 points ahead of their Saturday game against a season resurging Newcastle United.

Newcastle’s form in the season would have been a bit of mountain for Manchester City in this tie but their last five Premier League games where the Magpies have gone without a victory would easily predict a Man City ride over.

And that putative prediction come to past in a matter of minutes after Man City took the lead just 15 minutes into the game through Phil Foden. The English International danced his way through the Newcastle defense from behind the box before firing at goal that took a deflection at near position beating Nick Pope to the net.

A City attack saw Bernardo Silva doubled the lead in the second half planting to the right side after feeding on Erling Haaland back flip. Haaland failed to score despite threating the visitors defense a couple of times.

Man City trail Arsenal 2 points now as Mikel Arteta’s side take on AFC Bournemouth at 03:00 GMT. Arsenal have no option to win the tie to extend their lead off Man City who are a major threat to breaking their 19-year old EPL curse.
