Ander Herrera reveals why he left Manchester United for PSG

The former Athletico Bilbao midfielder spent 5 years at Manchester United before he left Old Trafford for Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Since making his debut in the opening day of the Premier League in August 2014, the Spaniard never looked back establishing himself as a regular at the club.

Herrera left United at the end of 2019 and has now revealed what prompted his to leave Od Trafford.

It has been revealed that disagreement between him and Manchester United board led to the Spaniard’s exit when he could have continued playing at Old Trafford.

“When I look back a year ago, my intention was not to leave Manchester United, Herrera told ESPN.

“I had some different opinions with the board but I respect them. I respect them a lot.

“They do things for Manchester United and I disagree with the people who say they don’t. They really suffer when things don’t go well and they really fight to bring Manchester United back.

“I disagreed with some of the decisions they made but this happens in football. In happens in every company.

“Apart from that, I respect them. I had a great relationship with Ed Woodward and with the owners when they came so I have nothing to complain about with them.

The midfielder made 132 EPL appearances for United and netted 12 goals but has struggle to walk into PSG midfield that consist of Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye, subjecting Herrera to only 8 appearances in the French Ligue 1 so far.

He won four trophies with the English club, including the FA Cup, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League, and was named as their player of the year for the 2016–17 season, before moving on to Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.
