Dries Mertens will join Chelsea this summer for two reason that make Chelsea favorite in sight of the Napoli star

Dries Mertens’s future at Napoli doesn’t seems brighter as the Belgian contract expires at the end of this season and whilst the Belgian has failed to agree a contract extension with the Italian outfits either.

His consistent display over seven years now at San Paolo Stadium, becoming Napoli’s joint-top goalscorer with Marek Hamsik, has come along with special interests from top clubs across Europe.

In recent times, Chelsea have been tipped as Merten’s next possible destination as he is reportedly not willing to stay at Napoli.

It has been revealed that two reasons may draw Dries Mertens closer to Chelsea than a move to other clubs according to Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian publication claims that the Belgian star knee finding a new challenge in a new league, where he now sees his dreams at Napoli as fulfilled.

Mertens has been arguably one of the best foreigners in the Seria A since signing for Napoli in 2013 but the desire for a new league in the subsequent season has emerged on the side of the Belgian World Cup star. For this reason, Inter and AC Milan’s interest in the attacker would be  jeopardize.

The San Siro clubs have long been monitoring his situation and knee to snatched the Napoli star if the Naples-based club fails to tie down the player.

However, with Mertens ready to leave the Seria A ones and for all this summer, he will snub Inter Milan and AC Milan amid a move to Stamford Bridge.

And that could be because of the Napoli star’s sudden admiration for Chelseas boss Frank Lmapard, and that is the second reason why the Seria A forward would join Chelsea than any club.

The Dello Sport further claims the Blues boss is considered a “legend” and represents “a consistent appeal” to Mertens.

The Chelsea manager has been contacting Mertens for almost a month now amid luring the attacker to Stamford Bridge.

Mertens has reportedly developed special admiration for the Chelsea manager in the course of talks with Frank Lampard.

However, Napoli are still hopeful that he will decide to sign an extension and stay despite the interest from Chelsea, claim by Daily Express.

And French outfits Paris Saint-Germain are interested in making a surprise move to sign Mertens now that two of their strikers in Mauro Icardi and Edinson Cavani could leave the club this summer.
