Ratcliffe awaits Glazer decision after crucial win at Bournemouth

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is waiting to see if his last ditch bid to beat Sir Jim Ratcliffe and takeover Manchester United has been successful following a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

The Manchester United takeover process is still ongoing – although finally for fans a conclusion seems to be nearing.

To recap, it was way back on November 22 when the Glazers announced they were to “explore strategic alternatives” and the third and final deadline passed on April 28 – with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe lodging a series of bids since.

Sir Jim appeared favourite but there was another BIG twist this week though, with Sheikh Jassim having launched a late final bid in an effort to sway the Glazers.

While things remain undecided off the pitch, United took a decisive step on it this afternoon. Casemiro’s first-half goal was enough for Erik ten Hag’s side to win 1-0 at Bournemouth. A top-four place isn’t yet secure, thanks to Roberto Firmino’s late equaliser for Liverpool against Aston Villa, but United only need one more point from their final two games to make sure of it.

The Glazers are set to consider their options at the end of this month as they attempt to clear up the uncertainty regarding a potential Manchester United takeover.

The much-criticised owners indicated their willingness to sell the club in a lengthy statement back in November but a deal is far from complete. Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain among the frontrunners to seal a deal at Old Trafford.
