Klopp fears Chelsea could challenge Liverpool for Premier League title
Chelsea spent more than £200million to strengthen their squad for this season campaign, and it seems Frank Lampard’s side have started the business for which they splashed money in the summer transfer window.
The bringing in of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell has comparatively got Chelsea on the right track in the Premier League and Champions League.
The Blues now top group E of the European competition with 7 points from 3 games whiles they sit second on the Premier League table with 18 points, 2 points behind leaders Tottenham as it stands now, and same points below Liverpool should the former European champions win their game against Leicester City on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Liverpool won last season’s Premier League to end their 30-years drought in English top flight league, beaten Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea to the title.
And the Reds still remain one of the favorite clubs to lift or somehow defend their title for this term.
But Chelsea are poised providing stiffer competition for the title and their second placed has put Liverpool boss Klopp into fears.
Klopp believes several clubs could challenge for the Premier League title this year and Chelsea will be one of them.
“But I’m a little bit afraid it won’t be Guardiola against Klopp over the next few years as it looks like Frank (Lampard) and Chelsea are building a proper team there.”
Chelsea have lost just once in the league where that came against Klopp’s side in September.
