Nigeria International Samuel Chukwueze reveals favourite team in England, cried after Champions League final

Nigeria International and Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has revealed he supports Chelsea and cried during the 2008 Champions League final defeat against Manchester United.

But Chukwueze has hinted he would be interested in joining his “favourite team” during a Q&A session on Instagram Live.

“My favourite team in England is Chelsea. I was supporting Chelsea when I was young,” he added.

“When Chelsea lost that Champions League final against Manchester United, I was crying all through the night.

“The Nigerian joined Villarreal youth team from Diamond Football Academy in 2017 before breaking into the first team in 2018. He has quit remarkable in the Spanish Laliga for the last two years.

The 20-year-old has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea but Villarreal’s £60 million valuation has prevented these clubs in signing the winger.

Liverpool began a move to sign the Nigerian but saw their €35m bid considered below Chukwueze’s release clause of £60million rejected by Villarreal in the January transfer window.
