Zamalek director of football Amir Mortada rubbishes Walid Azaro from Al Ahly to Zamalek reports

Azaro is set to depart Al Ahly following the arrival of Senegalese forward Aliou Badji, who alongside Junior Ajayi, Ali Maaloul, and Geraldo, will occupy the Red’s foreign player slots.

Rumours circulated that Al Ahly’s arch-rivals Zamalek will now prepare to snap up Azaro on a free transfer as the Red Devils will be forced to release him in case they couldn’t sell him before the end of this month.

However, Zamalek’s director of football Amir Mortada has rubbished these reports, saying despite Azaro’s quality, the club is not interested in signing him.

Amir has also confirmed that Kabongo Kasongo will return back to the Whites to take up the club’s final slot.

Kasongo had left Zamalek in January 2019 to join Saudi side Al Wehda on loan, before going out on another loan to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, however, he couldn’t feature in a single game and terminated his contract following issues with the club’s board.

Overall, the DR Congo international has made 49 appearances for Zamalek, scoring 19 while assisting three times.
