Lyle Lakay and Zwane strikes hand Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 victory over Baroka FC in Dstv premiership

Mamelodi Sundowns continue their winning streak in the Premier Soccer League after a return from continental inter club football break.

The Brazilians became aware of their Champions League group stage members following Caf’s draw for the African top flight competition in Egypt on Friday.

Sundowns traveled to face Baroka in what has been a tremendous Dstv season for Brazilians seemingly on course to defend the domestic title having clinched the ultimate in last day of the ABSA Premiership last season.

Despite been a free scoring side for a couple of seasons now, Baroka were able to forced Mamelodi Sundowns to a first half goalless draw at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Caf Champions League side, drawn along with TP Mazembe, Al Hilal and CR Belouizdad in group B, announced their superiority early in the second half as Lyle Lakay struck the bottom left corner from a free kick to give Sundowns the lead.

The Brazilians sealed victory in stoppage time when a nicely worked team effort saw Zwane connected it into the net from inside the box. The returning Gaston Sirino was instrumental for Downs for who the Uruguay International laid the ball back for Zwane to finish calmly.

Mamelodi Sundowns now lead the league log with three points off second place Moroka Swallows after today’s victory. Moroka Swallows who have 21 points take on Orlando Pirates tomorrow afternoon.
