Juventus to enter race for Timo Werner in a bid to get Cristiano Ronaldo stay at Turin

Timo Werner was one of the hottest players in the January transfer window, and that trend is expected to continue in summer having a host of clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona all linked with a move for the German international.

Juventus is reported to enter the race in attempt to sign the Leipzig forward to please Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports in Italy.

The former Real Madrid super star is unhappy with the misfiring strikers at Juve and has asked the club to sign a new forward before he can feels happy staying at Turin beyond the end of this season.

Italian newspaper, Tuttosport have now claimed that Juve chief Fabio Paratici is hoping to sign a striker at the end of the season to stall Ronaldo’s possible move-away by making the Portuguese happy when he signs a striker.

Now, Werner appears to be the top most target of all possibles of Gabriel Jesus and Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi after Leipzig revealed that no club has make official inquiry about the striker.

“There aren’t many things that favour him leaving us. There has been nothing at all. But it’s normal that Timo gets into the focus of other clubs. He’s playing a very, very good season and scores very, very often”, RB Leipzig’s sporting director Markus Krosche told Bild.

“Timo has a long-term contract. We play Champions League, we have a super coaching team and we still want to achieve a lot.”

Meanwhile, Icardi who is on loan at PSG with option to make the deal permanent around £54.4million could leave the French Ligue 1 at the end of the season, to head back to the Seria A where his services in needed by Juve.

Last summer, Juve battled Inter for Icardi before the Argentine finally joined the French champions.  However, he is also monitored by Chelsea who enter summer window in search of a striker.
