BREAKING: Chelsea are now favorites to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner revealed by close source

According to latest reports, Chelsea are now favorites to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig when the next transfer window opens.

The German forward was believed to want a move to Liverpool after publicly stating his willingness to join the European champions and describing their manager Jurgen Klopp as the ‘best coach in the world.’

Werner who has attracted domestic and international interest ruled out a possible move to Bayern Munich last month to indicate his readiness the quit the German Bundesliga for another league abroad, and despite Liverpool’s interest, Chelsea and Inter Milan are places the forward could find himself this summer.

However, Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed just last week that Werner would not be joining the Italian outfits.

And if these circumstances of the clubs are to go by, Chelsea and Liverpool are the main contenders for Werner’s signature.

According to latest Sky Sports report, a source very close to Timo Werner has revealed that the RB Leipzig striker is all but only happy to complete a move to Chelsea this summer- where he can find regular football.

The striker has €55million (£49.4million) release clause which expire Monday 15 June. And if it expires, Chelsea are expected to sign him less than this amount. The 25-year old striker has three years on his contract after signing an extension last summer.

But Leipzing are reportedly ready to let the player leave having proved his worth to the club since their gain of promotion to the Bundesliga back in 2016.

To add up to his worth to Leipzig, Werner has netted 32 times and impressive 7 assists this season including 25 goals in 29 Bundesliga outings.

When Werner could have been signed for a lower price if his release clause expires, Mauro Icardi permanent £51million move to Paris Saint-Germain last Sunday can high Werner’s price.

For a reason that Werner is three times younger that the latest PSG acquisition Icardi, and Leipzig may be tempted by the age difference not to accept any amount less than £50million.

And this theory price may not affect Chelsea’s chances of signing the 24-year old forward despite extending Olivier Giroud stay at Stamford Bridge and cash there to spend.

It’s reckoned that Frank Lampard would be offer big money to enter the summer transfer window, and with Timo Werner already eyeing to team-up, the Leipzig striker would be one that Lampard is expected to splash £50million on.
