Ben Chilwell close to completing transfer to Chelsea

Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell is reportedly close to completing a transfer to Chelsea as one of the “two marquee signings” Frank Lampard knee securing in the summer transfer window.

The Chelsea manager has traditionally resisted spending money in the transfer window since taking over the managerial position from Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge last year.

Having already make former Ajax gem Hakim Ziyech his first major spending around £37million, Lampard is planning a big transfer activity in this transfer window, with a reported few of ‘two big-name signings from the Chelsea manager-  and Jadon Sancho and Chilwell may be those names.

Whiles Chelsea have long been monitoring Sancho’s situation at Dortmund and are hoping to reach a deal for the former Manchester City winger this summer, completing Chilwell’s transfer has become imminent as strengthening the left-back in particular has become the immediate term priority of Lampard.

It’s understood that current left-backs Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have been unable to convinced the Chelsea boss and may offload them to find replacement where Chilwell or FC Porto’s Alex Telles could be brought in.

The boss has reportedly involved in talks with the Three Lion left-back amid his transfer to Stamford Bridge. Thought Lampard has done same with Alex Telles- who emerges as Chilwell’s direct alternative, the Chelsea manager wants Chilwell’s move at first instance.

And he has now been boosted by Chilwell himself after the defender talking about future with his manager at the King Power Stadium, revealed in The Sun by The Transfer Window Podcast.

The report claims that Chilwell has told his manager Brendan Rodgers that he wants to complete a move to Chelsea, and Leicester City should consider an offer by the West London side.

It appears that the 2016 Premier League champions have planned cashing in on the left-back this summer but only for the right price- around £85million.

Chilwell’s asking price is three times higher than Alex Telles valued £26million by Porto but Chelsea are still weighing the cards to complete signing of Ben Chilwell this summer.
