Chelsea set to scout Genoa midfielder Nicolo Rovella ahead of a potential summer move

Chelsea have identified Genoa youngster Nicolo Rovella as a transfer target this summer as they look to bolster their youth academy and plan for future seasons. The Blues are supposedly preparing to send scouts to monitor the 18-year-old, although Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on the Italian.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Chelsea and Inter are expected to battle it out in an attempt to snap up Rovella in the summer.

Frank Lampard is keen on the development of the youngster and is said to be preparing to send scouts to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Rovella primarily features for Genoa’s youth but the teenager has made two first-team appearances, making a late cameo in the Coppa Italia win over Ascoli before stepping off the bench for the Serie A clash with Inter in December.

The report claims that Lampard has identified the midfielder as one of the possible pieces of the puzzle as he looks to rejuvenate his squad at the end of the current campaign.

Genoa are looking to tie Rovella down on a first professional contract, but face a tough task fending off the attentions of both Chelsea and Inter.
