Arsenal and Manchester United plan January swoop on Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella

Arsenal and Manchester United appear the two latest Premier League outfits targeting a swoop on Inter Milan with midfield gem Nicolo Barella in sight.

Barella joined Inter Milan in July 2019 on a loan deal from Cagliari Calcio but Antonio Conte’s side made the deal permanent one in the summer.

The 23-year old has pulled lots of interest from both within and across the Seria A over the past two seasons but only made his dream of playing for Nerazzurri comes true after signing a permanent deal at San Siro beginning of this season.

In 2018, Barella rejected a move to play under his current boss Antonio Conte when the Italian tactician was at Chelsea before the player joined Inter Milan the next season.

With his string of sensational performances at Inter this season especially in Nerazzurri’s 3-2 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, a move for Barella has resurfaced among top Premier League clubs with Arsenal and Manchester now planning a January move for the Italian midifieder.

Arsenal completed a world class transfer of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in the summer but failed to land Houssem Aouar from Lyon. The Sun reports that Mikel Arteta’s hopes of strengthening his midfield has heightened ahead of the January window and has tipped Barella as a man to give the needed balance in middle of the pitch.

But the Gunners faces competition from Manchester United for signature of Inter’s midfielder sensation as claimed by the Sun.

It’s understood that Paul Pogba is unhappy and may want a move away from Old Trafford in January with Santiago Bernabeu likely to be the French’s next home, that’s according to initial report by AS.

And while Pogba is expected to leave United in the next transfer window, Berella has been penciled as his replacement.

The Inter man meanwhile is reportedly happy to stay at San Siro over his four year remaining contract, and the Seria A giants are already planning to offer him a new contract extension that will see the central midfielder’ wages increase from £2.2million-a-year to £3.5million-a-year in a bid to ward off potential suitors, according FC Inter News.

Apart from Arsenal and United, Laliga duo Barcelona and Atletico Madrid may also tempt Barella’s signature with a a January bid with Barca’s interest coming when the 23-year old assisted Lautaro Martínez with a deft back-heel against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
