Jose Mourinho names Eight Chelsea players in all-time XI

Jose Mourinho has named eight former Blues in his all-time XI of players he has worked with.

Reported in the Daily Mail, the Chelsea-dominated team consists largely of players he worked with when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2004.

He picked Petr Cech as the goalkeeper due to how instrumental he was in 2004/05 campaign. He only conceded 15 goals throughout the whole season.

John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho took up the centre-back positions with William Gallas at right-back. There was no room for Sergio Ramos or Marcelo from his Real Madrid days.

That Blues trio allowed Mourinho to set up the defensive foundation that made Chelsea so hard to beat and won two Premier League titles.

Two of the three midfield spots are also taken by former Chelsea players, first and foremost, Claude Makelele. His ability as holding midfielder changed the way we look at the role today and he was very organised in protecting the back four.

Lampard also joins Makelele in the midfield as the Blues’ leading all-time goalscorer and current head coach contributed plenty of big moments for Mourinho during his time at Chelsea.

Up front, he picked the goal machine Didier Drogba alongside Eden Hazard and Cristiano Ronaldo.
