Manchester United now favorites to sign Kai Havertz after Chelsea struggling to raise fund for Leverkusen star

Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz has emerged one of the hottest cakes in this summer’s transfer window at only at age 20 years.

The German midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea in last few weeks as the Premier League duo knee strengthening their squad to catch up with Liverpool and Manchester City.

Frank Lampard’s side have appeared much stronger than their rivals in the transfer market having beaten Liverpool to the signing of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner- (left with few formalities on how the fee will be paid according to The Telegraph) and were reportedly leading Manchester United in race for Bayer Leverkusen play-maker Havertz.

But there is a reported twist in the race and Chelsea are no longer consider favorites to sign Havertz this summer due to a presented financial problem of the West Londons.

The Athletic now claims Blues’ transfer chiefs are struggling to reach an agreement with Havertz’s advisers, with the 20-year-old valued at £89million.

Chelsea’s move for Timo Werner has deprived them strength to meet Havertz’s £89million asking price- unless they sell some of their experience players.

N’Golo Kante and Jorginho could be put up in the transfer market for sale but Frank Lampard is not ready to let Jorgi leave Stamford Bridge.

And the Chelsea manager is only willing to let French World Cup winner Kante leave for the right price but his £71million value may stand against his move away from Stamford Bridge.

Against this backdrop, Chelsea may not have fund for Havertz’s transfer. Comparatively, Manchester United stand better chances of landing the 20-year old since they haven’t spend much in the market so far, according to latest transfer talks.

The big spending United were planning was on Jadon Sancho (£95million) but after Borussia Dortmund ruling out sale of the Three Lion attacker- Dortmund’s head of club licensing Sebastian Kehl said “We expect Jadon to play with us next year”, Ole’s side are ready to spend that money of Havertz as Chelsea don’t have much now to spend on the German due to Werner’s transfer.

Manchester United already satisfy Havertz’s criteria for joining a new club abroad- that highlights a club wanting to win more silverware, and the signing Havertz will make the Reds better in winning titles.

“The team is always the priority, success is collective. “Then, the individual [trophies] come when you play well.

“I want to win the biggest trophies during my career: Champions League, World Cup or Euros.

“I don’t think much about the individual ones.

“Bayern are probably the biggest club in Germany and there are many players that were very successful at a young age that went there.

“Therefore I get linked with Bayern but we’ll see what happens.

“There are players that want to stay close to their family and others say, ‘I want to live in another country’.

“There’s something clear: if you want to be a star in Germany, you can’t go wrong with Bayern.

“I think I’ve picked up enough international experience at Leverkusen.

“I know the rhythm of these international matches and I’m confident I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany.

“For the moment, I want to have a good season. Afterwards we’ll see.

“Barcelona have a lot of the ball, but there are lots of teams that do that these days, not only Barcelona.

“Real Madrid are a team that have a of possession, although they’ve been a bit less efficient than Barcelona in recent years.”
