Napoli set Coppa Italia final with Juventus after 2-1 on aggregate victory in semifinals against Inter Milan

Since March, Italy had not seen the game of football due to the sudden outbreak of the coronavirus.

After almost three consecutive months without football in Italy- who undoubtedly appears one of the countries to suffer the wrath of the pandemic- the game finally returned last night with Coppa Italia matches being the starting point of it all.

In last night’s fashion was Juve who booked a spot in Coppa Italia final after drawing goalless against AC Milan in Allianz Arena but had a 1-1 score line from the first leg at San Siro before the season was halted.

Napoli this time welcomed Inter Milan to the San Paolo Stadium for second leg of Coppa Italia and drew 1-1 with Antonio Conte’s side to reach 10th Coppa Italia final.

Before today’s clash, Napoli beat Inter 1-0 in the first leg. Today’s draw set Napoli a date in final against 13 times Italia winners Juventus.

Inter Milan got the better of their opponents when former Tottenham Hotspur man Christian Eriksen broke the deadlock for the visitors. Di Lorenzo attempted to chest the ball back to Ospina, but his misplaced chested pass went out of play for a corner.

From the resulting corner, Christian Eriksen swung in the ball, which went all the way through the Napoli defence and past the helpless Ospina.

Napoli equalized in a sweet counter-attack. Ospina launches the ball to Insigne on the left-wing, who beats Eriksen before unselfishly putting the ball on a plate for Mertens and the Belgian International’s shot slided under Inter shot-stopper Handanovic.

Mertens is now Napoli new record goalscorer following his goal tonight. Ospina saved Eriksen shot to deny Inter Milan a second goal in stoppage time as Napoli meet Juve in finals next week Wednesday in Rome.
