Chelsea’s interest in Kai Havertz intensify after striker netting a Bundesliga brace over the weekend

Chelsea want a union with Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz as Frank Lampard pushes to make significant changes in his young eleven by bringing in big-name players in summer.

Kai Havertz who has been exceptional in the Leverkusen shirt for the past year has been shortlisted by Frank Lampard, and the last two weeks have been a widespread of rumours heavily linking the German International to Stamford Bridge.

Reports from Italy suggest that the Premier League outfit have had their interest in Havertz intensified after the striker producing yet another brilliant moment in Leverkusen’s 4-1 thumbing of Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga game last Monday.

Italian website Calciomercato claims that Chelsea have intensified efforts to bring Havertz to Stamford Bridge but there remains a huge obstacle in front of the West London club in whatever pursuit they may offer in upcoming days.

Whereas Chelsea have contacted Leverkusen over a transfer for Havertz, 20, the Bundesliga side are demanding between £89m – £107million for the 20-year old attacker.

And Leverkusen are reportedly willing not to accept talks encompassing reduction of price for the seven-capped Germany international.

If Havertz is able to find himself in Chelsea colours next season, he would be the West London’s most expensive signing in history, dwarfing  the current club-record transfer of £71.5m paid for Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018.
