BREAKING: Premier League confirm six coronavirus cases across three clubs during first phase of Coronavirus Antigen Testing

The Premier League has released a statement few minutes ago confirming six players and or staffs across three clubs have tested positive for covid-19 during phase of testing in clubs.

The league said in a statement: “The Premier League can today confirm that, on Sunday 17 May and Monday 18 May, 748 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19.

“Of these, six have tested positive from three clubs. Players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days.

“The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and oversight.

“No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the Premier League due to legal and operational requirements.”

Premier League knee returning after Premier League clubs passing a unanimous decision yesterday to return training individually amid completion of Project Restart phase I.

The decision to train individually under strict measures was followed immediately by mass testing across Premier League clubs, with Antigen Testing beginning over the weekend.

The league has carried out 748 tests so far, and has said that the six positive tests were spread across three clubs.

It remains confidential whether the cases are players or staffs and the clubs they are coming from.
