Lukas Podolski message to Arsenal over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer

Former Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski has urged Arsenal to sell their top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and use the money to reinvest in the squad.

It has been thought that Aubameyang is leaving Arsenal this summer with Barcelona and Real Madrid likely to be the potential destinations for the striker.

Barcelona failed in a bid to sign the former Dortmund striker in the January transfer window, and as the summer transfer window approaches, he is linked with Chelsea, Madrid and Manchester United.

If the African striker escape been sold in the next two transfer windows, he then becomes a free man to walk away from Emirates Stadium without Arsenal earning anything from his departure.

Cashing in on the Gabon striker this summer or next January window is the only way Arsenal avoid being handed empty-handed when Aubameyang leaves North London.

Former Arsenal and German International Podolski has now urged Arteta’s side to consider selling their prize asset this summer.

‘When you have a fantastic season like he had, many clubs are interested,’ Podolski told Sky Sports via Metro Sports.

‘When a player has a wish to play for a big team or a dream to play in Italy or Spain, or like Aubameyang and his link with Real Madrid.

‘If he has a dream to play for this club when he’s young, then why not? As a player, you have to take this chance to play for a club like that.

‘Of course, for Arsenal, it’ll be a big loss if they have to sell him but this is the business of football.

‘My opinion is you lose a big player, he had a fantastic season with a good scoring record, but you can make money on a player, sell him and you can invest in new players.

‘For a player like me or Aubameyang, when a big club is calling, you always want to have this dream.’

Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi has suggested that there will be very few big-money deals in the next transfer window due to the financial implications of the coronavirus crisis.

The Gabon striker is currently valued €56million, making him ranked 10th among all players worldwide playing as “Centre-Forward.”
