Ghana Premier League Week 3 Match Preview- Asante Kotoko vs Berekum Chelsea, News and Predicted Lineups

Asante Kotoko head into Week 3 of the Ghana Premier League as one of the only six clubs who have had a perfect start to the new season.

Kotoko are chasing their best ever form to the start of the Ghana Premier League in the last 11 years, and a win for them on Sunday will be the first time the club have won all first three Premier League games since 2007-2008 season.

Whereas Kotoko walk into the game in search of their third straight win of the season, Chelsea are just hoping for their second victory, defeating Porcupines’ rivals Hearts of Oak in the season’s opener before being held to a goalless draw at home by Liberty Professionals last week.

In as much as more is expected from the front three of Emmanuel Gyamfi, Songne Yacouba and Augustine Okrah in tomorrow’s game, Kotoko’s defense should equally be wary of the treat pose by duo Jonah Attuquaye and experienced Kofi Owusu who together have won Chelsea 4 points, one more point than what the combined of Yacouba, Gyamfi and Okrah have won for Kotoko so far.

Attuquaye gave Chelsea all three points in the open day of the Ghana Premier League before winning a point for his side a week later after he was brought down for a penalty against Liberty when Chelsea welcomed the Scientific Soccer Lads to the Berekum Golden City Park.

In the resultant penalty, credit goes to Liberty keeper Shaibu Ganiwu when he saved Kofi Owusu’s kick on 73rd minute to see the game ended goalless draw.

Chelsea keeper Danlad Ibrahim returns home against his parent club (loaned out to Chelsea), and is one of the four keepers who are yet to concede a goal in the Ghana Premier League.

He walks into Sunday’s game looking forward to become better of his competitors Frank Boateng, Joseph Addo and WAFA keeper, to keep his third consecutive clean sheet.

Kotoko forward Songne Yacouba is confident of finding his name on the score sheet for the first time this season having managed two assists as his best stats in the season so far.

Team New

All injured players are making successful return for Kotoko, and are further boosted by the return of Black Meteors defender Habib Mohammed who resumed training later this week.
