Ghana Premier League second top scorer Yahaya Mahammed set to earn Black Stars call ahead of 2021 AFCON qualifier against Sudan

Ghana Premier League second leading top scorer Yahaya Mohammed is reported to earn a call up into the senior national team Black Stars as Ghana prepare to meet Sudan in 2021 AFCON qualifier in Ghana.

Yahaya, who currently plays for Aduana Stars- has been sensation in the 2019-2020 Premier League having found back of the net 10 times in 12 league appearance, following Inter Allies’ Victorien Adebayor on the top scorer chat.

His form has caught the eyes of new Black Stars manager C.K. Akunnor who releases his first set of players as Black Stars coach tomorrow, and it is understood that Akunnor would hand the former Asante Kotoko forward a national team call up.

There is a tradition, which has make it difficult for local players to get call ups into the Black Stars but the circle is bound to break when C.K Akunnor names his squad for the Sudan clash, and three to five local players could receive inclusion of the call up and Yahaya Mohemmed would be one of them, according to sources.

The Aduana Stars forward was named the NASCO Player of the Month January to emerge as the first player to lift the award in the 2019-2020 season.

Yahaya got his debut national team call up in 2007 against Senegal, and have represented Ghana in the 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Sudan.
