Former Zamalek striker Alaa Ali died on Monday at the age of 31

Ali, who came from Zamalek youth ranks, started his career with the club’s senior team in 2007. The club mourned Alaa on their official Twitter account, offering condolences to his family.

After departing the White Castle in 2012, he played for a host of Egyptian clubs including Wadi Degla, Masry, Smouha and finally for Petrojet.

Alaa goal scoring prowess in the Egyptian top flight football has been impressive but managed to scored 19 goals in 119 Egyptian Premier league appearances throughout his football career.

He had recently become a free agent after departing Petojet following their delegation to the second division league last season.
