Asante Kotoko: Kjetil Zachariassen arrives in Ghana, players to resume training on Monday

Asante Kotoko enjoy a poor campaign in the 2019-2020 CAF Inter Club calendar haven been eliminated from the CAF Champions League by Etoile du Sahel before falling to San Pedro in the Confederation Cup.

Coming into the Confederation Cup phase, hopes were very high especially with most top clubs on the continent participating in the Champions League. Kotoko were given a hurdle to climb against San Pedro in the playoff of the Confederation Cup, and the Ghanaian giants suffered a shocking 2-1 on aggregate defeat against the Ivorian side.

Kjetil Zachariassen’s arrival in Ghana

The aftermath of the elimination from the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup have been series of problems for the Kumasi based side. Their boss Kjetil Zachariassen is blamed for picking a weak eleven, and also failing to give fans favorite Songne Yacouba minutes against San Pedro in Abidjan.

The Norwegian was left out in Ivory Coast without returning to Ghana after Kotoko supporters got furious over Kotoko’s elimination to San Pedro.

This meant the Norwegian has to stay in Abidjan for a while as his manager resolves any built tension between Zachariassen and Kotoko.

No one knew when Zachariassen would return to Kotoko but today Sunday the Norwegian has arrived in Kumasi to hold a vital meeting with the Chiefs of Baba Yara.

Kotoko resume training on Monday

Asante Kotoko will resume training on Monday at Adarko Jachie. The team broke camp last week Tuesday after arriving from Abidjan.

After arriving in Ghana on Monday, the technical team of Kotoko gave the playing five days off from training, and are due to return to Adako Jachie tomorrow ahead of the upcoming Ghana Premier League season.
