Al Ahly planning to swoop FC Luzern and Nigerian forward Blessing Eleke in January to add bit to their misfiring attacking force

Al Ahly of Egypt are keeping taps on Nigerian striker Blessing Eleke ahead of the January transfer window. According to reports, discussions for bringing in the FC Luzern forward have already taken place.

Ahly enjoyed a smooth running in the early phases of the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League after cruising past Atlabara and Cano Sport in the Preliminary and first round stages of the CAF Champions League respectively.

Though the Egyptian power house continue to dominate domestic football, having their 100% start to the Egyptian Premier League intact, the group phase of the Champions League has been a sweet-bitter journey for Ahly, winning the last and losing their first games of their first two group stage games of Champions League so far.

Ahly’s striking force have failed to storm the premier club football competition in the continent, where none of the club’s forwards has appeared on this season’s Champions League top scorer chat, and both Junior Ajayi, Walid Soliman, Marwan Mohsen, Amar Hamdy and Ahmed El Sheikh have not found the back of the net in Ahly’s last two games of the Champions League.

Nigeria forward Ajayi, Walid Azaro, Marwan Mohsen, and Salah Mohsen have grabbed a combined goals of seven in 25 games for the Cairo side, and manager Rene Weiler is simply unsatisfactory and unconvinced of the stats of his attackers this season.

To add bit to their misfiring attack, Ahly would walk into the January transfer to bring in new additions to boost their chances not only in qualifying out of the Group B- where they sit third on the log now, but to reach the finals of the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League as well.

According to reports in Egypt, the African giants have identified FC Luzern forward Blessing Eleke as their top most priority, and Ahly have been keeping eyes on the Nigerian forward for some time now, who flourished under Rene Weiler in the Swiss Super league, scoring 13 goals and making three assists in all competitions for Weiler’s side before the Swiss trainer replaced Martin Lasarte at Ahly August this year.

Meanwhile, Luzern is ready to cash in on Eleke following the Nigerian’s poor form, registering only three goals in all competitions so far. It is understood that Weiler have already discussed with Ahly board to make a swift purchase for his new identified attacker this January before Luzern change their intentions of selling Eleke.
