Arsenal backed to make a quick move for Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey has been incredible for Atletico Madrid season in-and-out but he has recently tipped to leave Wanda Metropolitano.

A move to the EPL has always be a ‘dream’ transfer for the Ghanaian midfielder and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admires the central midfielder a lot.

In the January transfer window, Arsenal nearly submitted a bid to Atletico Madrid during which Arteta was weighting options to sign new players to brighten Arsenal’s chances of securing Champions League football next season.

Only that the Spanish manager finally settled on solving the defence problems first, stalling a move for Partey in the just ended transfer window, according to close sources.

The 26-year-old’s starring performance against Liverpool in the Champions League has rekindle talks about the need for Arsenal to sign the Atletico Madrid star, and a key figure who has urged the London side to make Partey’s transfer a reality is former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Hislop said: “Thomas Partey has been outstanding for the last two years.

“If you’re Arsenal and you can somehow prise Partey away from Atletico Madrid, absolutely you do it all day every day.

“He sits in front of the back four, I’m still not sure that there are many better box-to-box midfielders in the game. If you get this done, do it now, do it quick.

“There’s a challenge around Atletico Madrid and their style of play which made the headlines again this season.

“Maybe Partey feels it’s time for a new challenge, a different style of football, maybe Arsenal offer him something financially that makes it worthwhile and Arteta convinces him they’ll be playing Champions League before long.”

There could be so many obstacles affecting Gunners’ success of landing the £45million rated box-to-box midfielder, to which Arsenal’s failure to qualify for Europe next season would completely hamper Partey’s move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have re-organized themselves in the EPL after been crushed of the Europa League, a route they could have utilized to enter the Champions League next season.

They have had impressive form in the league, failing to taste a defeat in their last five EPL games but the latest three have all landed Arsenal in sweet victory.
