Former Ash Gold midfielder James AKaminko eyeing move to Asante Kotoko

James Akaminko has set his heart on joining Ghana Premier League outfits Asante Kotoko ahead of the summer transfer window.

Akaminko, 24, left Ash Gold at the end of this season after failing to pen a new deal at Obuasi following expiration of his contract last month.

It is understood that Ash Gold offered Akaminko a new contract but the creative midfielder rejected any approach to remain at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium amid a move to Asante Kotoko.

After leaving Ash Gold, he has consistently been linked with Asante Kotoko where Porcupine boss Maxwell Konadu is reportedly a big fan of Akaminko.

The former Ash Gold deep-lying play-maker has broken his silence on his proposed move to Kotoko, revealing he is willing to play for his Regional rivals.

“I’m no more a player of Ashantigold.” “I’m willing to play for Kotoko, it will be an honour for a ‘whole’ Kotoko to approach me. I will thank God if I receive a call from Kotoko asking for my services.”

“Opting between playing for Kotoko or traveling abroad, I will opt to play here than traveling abroad.”

If Akaminko gets his dream move to Kotoko completed, he will line up with Maxwell Konadu, Kwame Baah and Justice Blay at Kotoko where Akaminko formed a very strong partnership with Blay when Ghana placed second in the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal.

In light of the Ghana Premier League outfits’ African campaign, they are also planning to land Akaminko teammate Latif Anabila.
