Ash Gold come from behind to beat Karela United 2-1 to get back to winning ways

Ash Gold recorded a 2-1 victory over Karela United in Week 15 of the Ghana Premier League at the Tarkwa Akoon Community Park to see the Miners get back to winning ways.

Ash Gold had already gone three games without a win, and Samed Ibrahim and Benedict Wobenu second half strikes were enough to hand the Obuasi based side their first win in four games but their seventh victory of the season.

The win never came easy for Ash Gold after sharing the spoils with the home side in the first half. And they were surprisingly leapfrogged 20 minutes inside the second half when dangerous man Diawisie Taylor put Karela United ahead on the 65th minute.

Desperate-for-win Ash Gold responded quickly after three minutes to Taylor’s opener, this time Samed Ibrahim leveled the Miners on the 68th minute.

Spirited Karela United searched for the match winner but only saw the direct opposite of it, suddenly conceded the second goal against the away side as Benedict Wobenu put the Miners ahead for the first time in the game two minutes after Samed Ibrahim’s strike.

Ash Gold now sit 6th place on the league log with 25 points, five clear points below league leaders Medeama. They will host inform Elmina Sharks at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday before traveling to face Inter Allies at the capital the following week.
