Ghana midfielder Agyemang Badu confirmed self-isolated as he shares self-situation in Coronavirus outbreak in Italy

Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has revealed his current situation in the phase of Coronavirus pandemic that has reach the borders of Italy, affecting all football related activities in the country.

The Hellas Verona player is in Italy who now appear as the second most affected country after China- where the outbreak initially originated.

With 24,747 cases and 1,809 deaths by Sunday – a rise of 368 in the death toll in just 24 hours – Italy’s experience has offered an alarming example for other European countries which have begun seeing sharp rises in cases over recent days.

Meanwhile, Ghana have confirmed four new COVID-19 cases summing upthe country’s total cases to six as at Sunday.

Most people in Ghana seem not to wary of the treat presented by the disease, and a lot of Ghanaians have also been deceived by the growing body of idea that the diesease cannot infect “Black Person” where they have jokingly spread funny stuffs about the disease on social media.

The Director of Public Health of the Ghana Health Services (GHS) Dr Badu Sarkodie announced on Sunday Ghana’s current situation on the Coronavirus confirming the four new cases to indicate in fact if proper protective health measure are not set in place the disease can cause a wide spread and death toll in the next few weeks.

Agyemang Badu reacted on the Director’s announcement and the behavior of Ghanaians on social media to educate the masses on some of the misconceptions held about the COVID-19.

“I think as Ghanaians we joke a lot with very serious issues. I have been reading on social media how people are circulating fake news and playing with it,” he told Kumasi based Angel FM.

“This is how Italians started with it and now the whole country is at standstill.

“It is never true that coronavirus doesn’t infect black people. As I speak, two black footballers have contracted it in Italy.”

“Myself, I have been placed under self-isolation because my club faced a club that’s got 8 players testing positive. If I need anything, you just have to put on club WhatsApp page so that club Physio will buy for you”.

“For one week now, I’m in the house alone and even the team Physio who buys me groceries is not allowed to get in contact with me. He just places them at my doorstep and disappears. It is a very scary and sad situation here.”

The outbreak has affected all football activities in Europe leading to postponement of League games in Italy, England and Spain.

If Ghana’s cases continue to rise, similar measures from the Ghana Football Association could be implemented.
