GFA play important role in battling coronavirus in Ghana after handing Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence as isolation center

The Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence at Prampram- a national camping facility for all Ghana national teams- is set to honour as isolation center during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana as the GFA made big statement against covid-19 pandemic.

Ghana is one of the African countries heavily hit with the outbreak of deadly coronavirus but the country have never look relaxed in the battle, finding all plausible measures to contain the disease.

There was one difficult thing the health sector of the country was facing to meet if they were indeed to make significant statement in containing the virus, that is, finding the spaces to convert into isolation centers and centers to house patients with severe symptoms of the deadly disease.

The Ghana Football Association, whose events have also been halted by the pandemic leading to suspension of all sporting events, have played important role in the battle against the virus by handing the health sector of Ghana Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence to convert to isolation center and housing of patients.

Three days ago, the GFA initially released a statement to issue out the facility for use against coronavirus however, some angry Youth in the Greater Accra Regional protested against the GFA’s decision.

“Through our Medical Committee, we have gotten in touch with the authorities to make them aware that our facility at Prampram is available for use,” said General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo.

“The Centre of Excellence is spacious and we think the facility can be of great help to the government in this challenging time.”

The Ghana Football Association led by President Kurt E.S Oraku reaffirmed the decision to highlight its position to offer the facility in Ghana’s Ministry of Information’s press briefing on Thursday.

Additionally, the press briefing provided the opportunity to highlight accurate information about Ghana’s covid-19 cases.

Ghana stand Six Hundred and Forty One (641) confirmed covid-19 cases with Eighty-Three (83) recoveries and Eight (8) deaths from the virus.

The center is reportedly needs renovation exercise and Chief Executive Officer of Baby Jet Promotions and manager of Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan, Samuel Anim-Addo has called for serious renovation at the facility.

“The most important thing is that; it needs a serious uplift. Government should come in, because if the national teams all camp here, it’s the duty of all of us, so government must come in and let’s uplift the place.”

“If the place is a center of excellence, then it should have every facility here, a minimum of three-star so that we can camp the national team here. We can make here a city of soccer.”

Anim-Addo also revealed the economic benefit Ghana can reap from the center if it receives the necessarily serios development.

“Infrastructure in football should be also be developed, and here, looking at how vast the land is, we can build more pitches and all the national teams can camp here and it saves cost.

“At the same time, other teams who would like to camp outside their country can camp here. Other clubs can also camp here, so as far as it will be supporting the nation, it would also generate revenue and do a lot for.”
