Blow for Al Ahly ahead of CAF Champions League clash against Etoile du Sahel as midfielder Aliou Dieng sustains groin injury

Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly have suffered a blow, following the latest injury of versatile midfielder Aliou Dieng  as they prepare to take on El-Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League and Etoile de Sahel in the CAF Champions League ending of this month.

Aliou Dieng is the latest player to add up to Al Ahly’s injury list this season after Hamdy Fathi, who sustained a knee injury during Egypt’s recent friendly against Liberia and Mohamed Mahmoud, who also suffered a second Ante cruciate ligament injury last month.

Dieng sustained the injury in Mali U-23 camp haven seen his national team being eliminated from the ongoing U-23 AFCON Champions in Egypt. The injury of Dieng- who is expected to go off for two weeks- can go a way to affect his club Ahly, who this season has featured only ones for the Egyptian giants.

The 22 year opened his account for Al Ahly this season against Equatorial Guinea side Cano Sport in the CAF Champions League first round, and netted in his debut game.

Coming in the U-23 AFCON as one of dependable players for Mali, Aliou Dieng started all Mali’s three games against Egypt, Cameroon and Ghana in the group stage.

Dieng’s latest groin put him at the edge of missing Al Ahly’s upcoming games against El-Gouna in Egypt Premier League on 25th Nov. and Etoile du Sahel on 29th November in the CAF Champions League.
