Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak continued their preparations ahead of the new coming season by welcoming Wa All Stars to the Accra Sports Stadium for a club friendly on Sunday afternoon.
Hearts boss Gim Grant gave starts to Benjamin Mensah in posts, Benjamin Agyare, Mohammed Alhassan, Okemba Ovouka, Benjamin Afutu, Michelle Sarpong with Joseph Esso and Kofi Kodzi leading the attack for Hearts of Oak.
The game was quite balanced in two sections, with Hearts of Oak dominating the first 20 minutes of the first half before Wa All Stars came into the game strongly dictating affairs in the remaining 25 minutes of the first half.
The Wa based side nearly took the lead during the closing stage of the first half as All Stars worked the ball nicely from midfield into Hearts penalty box but a strike from All Stars player missed the posts by an inch.
In what seemed to be the last scene to the end of the first half, Wa All Stars took a deserving lead, a player, after cutting in from the right edge of the box sent in a stunning curler into the far top right corner.
Hearts began the second half with improved performance, organizing their passes together in their own half but were struggling to keep hold of possession through the middle of the park.
Two minutes into the second half, Kofi Kodzi rose above Wa All Stars defense to head Esso’s cross from the right edge of the box but Kodzi’s header went wayward off the bar.
Hearts found a solution to their inability break through the center of the park, playing some beautiful football this time from back through midfield to attack, which allowed Grant’s side open All Stars defense on countable times, and finally got the equalizer through Kwadwo Obeng Junior.
