Al Ahly set to sign Gaston Sirino before start of Egyptian Premier League

Al Ahly are set to announce transfer of Gaston Sirino before the start of new Egyptian Premier League season late November.

The African giants have shown interest in Sirino for some time now but Ahly’s Champions League clash with Mamelodi Sundowns this term have guaranteed signing of the Uruguayan International.

While Ahly have reportedly agreed a deal in principle to bring Sirino to Cairo, there exist two stumbling blocks that if not dealt with could hamper Red’s chances of getting their prime target.

First is the foreign quota problem and second is failure to reach agreement with Mamelodi Sundowns. However, all two problems are not beyond Ahly’s control and are capable of overcoming them.

It’s understood that the Egyptian giants have exceeded foreign quota and needs to ship at least two foreign players to free space to welcome the South American star.

Holding that in sight, Ahly are prepared to let go Angolan man Geraldo who was signed from Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto in January and Aliou Badji having signed him from Australian side Rapid Wien in January 2020.

Geraldo has enjoyed a good campaign over his almost 2 years stay with Ahly and could still return to his country for next season. And a move away from the Cairo International Stadium faces Badji who have a registered interest from Zamalek meanwhile a move back to Australia is possible.

Badji have struggled to find the perfect rhythm at Ahly netting only 3 times in 9 Egyptian Premier League games since last year and he can be a free up space for Sirino next season.

Ahly sporting director Sayed Abdelhafiz has started talking with Sundowns after initially failing to agree a deal with the South African side. At first Sundowns were unwilling to sell Sirino but there is a change of mind within the Sundowns set up- who are now considering selling if the accurate measurement of the forward is presented.

Sundowns’ decision to selling has been influenced by contact from Mosimane who Sirino shined under whiles both were together at the Brazilians.

Mosimane has not only had impact on Downs’s decision, he has also reportedly contacted Sirino and discuss plans at Ahly, and has ordered his employers to improve the $3million initial offer.

Ahly were understood planning to settle for either TP Mazembe star Jackson Muleka or Sirino, and have a bid rejected for Muleka first before seeing another rejected move for Sirino September this year.

Futball Surgery now understand that Ahly are back in a desperate move for the 28-year old and are confident of landing Sundowns man before the start of 2020/2021 season. While acting on Mosimane’s advise, Ahly are planning to offer $4.5million in exchange for Sirino.
