Esperance de Tunis planning to raid Zamalek for attacking midfielder Achraf Bencharki

With the summer transfer window approaching faster and football gradually resuming in its full being, most African clubs are planning to enter into the market for their shopping.

Esperance de Tunis is no exception of this and have identified Zamalek star performer Achraf Bencharki to bolster their attacking lines for next season.

The Tunisian champions have enjoyed good domestic campaign leading the Tunisian Premier League table with 44 point, leapfrogging second placed CS Sfaxien with 10 points after 16 games along with unbeaten run form before the coronavirus pandemic halted their season.

However, their campaign in African Inter Club competitions never went as planned having failed to lift the CAF Super Cup- a trophy they have not won since 1995 losing in two consecutive finals but could have broken their 25 year African Super Cup drought if they had beaten Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in 2019 and Zamalek in 2020.

Moïne Chaâbani’s men couldn’t defend their CAF Champions crown this season having grabbed from previous two consecutive seasons. They were crushed out in the quarter finals of the African Champions League by Zamalek– qualifying on 3-2 aggregate to the semifinals.

Bencharki was very instrumental in both legs, and his tricky nature made it difficult for the Esperance defense to contain the Moroccan International- netting Zamalek’s second goal before earning penalty in their 3-1 victory over the Tunisians in the first leg at Cairo International Stadium.

The North African giants- Esperance became aware of Bencharki’s potentials, and are readying a bid to lure him to Stade Olympique Rades next season according to latest sources.

However, Zamalek who appears to have an enviable project in the pipeline under Patrice Carteron see the Moroccan winger as big part of long term plans and are not ready to cash in on the 24year old attacking midfielder.

Bencharki has two more seasons on his contract at Zamalek after completing a move from French side Lens in 2019, and Zamalek could offer him long term contract.
