Middlesbrough coach Jonathan Woodgate reckons fearful Swansea City attack led by Andre Ayew

Jonathan Woodgate, manager of Middlesbrough has applauded Andre Ayew led Swansea City attack after the Swans defeated boro in Championship game over the weekend.

Steve Cooper has guided Swansea City to a respectable position on the English Championship table, lying 9th with 56 points from 38 games 15 points from the summit.

Swans have netted impressive 49 goals in the league matching fourth placed Nottingham Forest in the same number of goals scored this season.

A trio of Rhian Brewster, Conor Gallagher and Andre Ayew has been a revelation for Swans’ goalscoring output this term with Liverpool loanee Brewster netting 6 goals in the Championship but 9 across all competitions in Swans colours and Andrew Ayew has 15 goals in all competitions to his name.

The trio continued their splendid form over their weekend game against Middlesbrough, beating boro 3-0 at the Riverside Stadium last Saturday.

Thanks to goals from Brewster who was assisted by Andrew Ayew for his side’s opener before grabbing a brace three minutes later.

Andrew Ayew- strategic in Cooper’s attack this season- completed Swansea City’s 3-0 lead before end of the first half after Gallagher was brought down in the box by Boro captain George Friend for the Ghanaian International to convert.

Boro manager Woodgate has has reckoned City’s fearful attack and applauded their deadly attack of Brewster, Gallagher and Andre Ayew.

“They’ve got some exceptional players in Rhian Brewster, Conor Gallagher and Andre Ayew. We just couldn’t deal with them,” Woodgate was quoted as saying in Wales Online.

“It’s hard to explain that type of performance. It’s not nice to see. It was just the basics of the game at times. It wasn’t good enough.

“We won’t come up against a Brewster, an Ayew or a Conor Gallagher again. Them three up top, I thought they were absolutely outstanding.”

Andre Ayew has scored 13 goals in the Championship so far and is expected to register his 14th league goal of the season when Swansea City welcome Luton Town to the Liberty Stadium in Saturday early kickoff clash.
