Esperance continue their impressive campaign for the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League despite been held to a goalless draw at home against DR Congo side AS Vita Club in Match Day 3 of the group stages in the Champions League on Friday evening.

The Ghanaian midfielder Kwame Bonsu who started in a four man midfield along with Anice Badri, Abdelraouf Benguit and Hamdou Elhouni was substituted on the 31’ minute mark having picked a muscle injury. The sign that Bonsu wouldn’t complete the game was clear as the midfielder was spotted limping around the 25’ minute mark.

The former Asante Kotoko was replaced by Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, but Esperance failed to make it three consecutive wins out of three games of the CAF Champions League group stage, having already beating Raja Casablanca and JSK in previous game.

At the receiving end, former Aduana Stars man Zakaria Mumuni played well for AS Vita Club causing some problems for Esperance defender Sameh Derbali on so many occasions. The winger was replaced by Michael Wango Ayitshela on the 74’ minute.

Both teams were very cautions in the first 15 minutes but Esperance looked a little bit livelier, and nearly took the lead on the 13’ minute but Vita keeper Nelson Lukong save Chetti shot inside from the left edge.

Vita began to slow down possession but Esperance continued to be dangerous with their swift counter attacking play on the left flank. Both teams failed to open the score at the end of the game.

Esperance lead group D with 7 points followed by Raja Casablanca with 6 points, with AS Vita having just a point at bottom of the table.
