EXCLUSIVE: TP Mazembe captain Rainford Kalaba ruled out in CAF Champions League game against Zamalek

TP Mazembe captain Rainford Kalaba has been ruled out of the Ravens’ clash in the opening round of the CAF Champions League group stage against Zamalek after getting hit with a malaria crisis.

TP Mazembe popularly known as the Ravens announced on Thursday that Kalaba was diagnosed with Malaria and did not head with the squad to their closed camp in Futuka, Lubumbashi.

Mazembe are set to face Zamalek in the round of 16’s opening round of the Champions League on Saturday at TP Mazembe Stadium.

The Congolese side along with Zamalek were both drawn in Group A accompanied by Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto and Zambia’s Zesco United.

The 33-year-old winger featured in Mazembe’s two encounters in the preliminary rounds of the tournament where they defeated Madagascar’s Fosa Juniors.
