Warning to Al Ahly as Etoile manager Garrido believes he knows how Al Ahly plays in CAF Competitions

Tunisian heavyweights Etoile du Sahel welcome Al Ahly to the Stade Olympique de Sousse for their CAF Champions League group stage opener on Friday evening. Ahead of the clash, Juan Garrido who joined Etoile Sportive du Sahel very recently has insisted that he knows how his former club Ahly play.

Garrido’s helm of affairs for Etoile Sportive would be important for the Tunisians this time as they have always struggled to play the Egyptians. In 2017, Etoile succumbed to the Egyptians on a 7-4 aggregate in the semifinals of the Champions League, something which Garrido and his side would be hoping for a perfect revenge.

“I know a lot about Al Ahly and how they turn up in African tournaments as I managed the team before.”

The 50-year-old had led Al Ahly to Egypt Super Cup and CAF Confederations Cup triumph late in 2014, and has prioritized in winning the CAF Champions League for the Etoile as well during his stay with the club.

“My main objective is the CAF Champions League title, and it’s the same for the players. This is not an easy group we are facing so we don’t have to underestimate any teams” Girrado highlighted during his introduction to the media on Tuesday.
