Hearts News: Midfielder Emmanuel Nettey set sight on next Black Stars call up

Hearts of Oak influential midfielder Emmanuel Nettey has set his eye on subsequent Black Stars call up, and the only way to achieve that is to improve his game according to the midfield maestro.

Nettey joined the Ghanaian giants during the beginning of the season, and has established an enviable partnership with Frederick Ansah Botchway and Benjamin Afutu in a compact three man midfield.

With new Black Stars manager Charles Akwablan Akunnor fancying local call up during his tenure of office in the senior national team, Nettey was one of several to earn a call from the local scene due to his eye catching performances for Hearts this term.

“It did not affect me in any way because there are so many Ghanaians playing, others are plying their trade outside, they weren’t called so if I am doing my best I think I can get better,” he told Citisports.

“Because he (Akunnor) has given slots to the local players during his first call up and with many matches to come, I just need to step up my game and then make sure in the next call-ups I should do my best and have a call up.”

All Sporting events including the Ghana Premier League have been suspended to attempt to prevent the spread of covid-19 pandemic in Ghana. Despite suspension, players are put on planned training schedules to keep them fit when the season resumes.

“… Yeah, it’s very true and we are going through the training schedules that have been programmed for us whilst we stay at home.

“It will be difficult for some of us to follow the training program because when there are no instructors to supervise… will stop training when you get tired. However, as a professional, this is the time professionalism needs to come play for you to be in top shape.”
