Guinea throw away first win in African World Cup qualifiers after Amir Kamal stoppage time equalizer ends it 2-2 against Sudan in Agadir
Jose Kante and Mohamed Bayo gave Guinea 2-1 lead before Ahmed Hamed Mhmoud has scored in between but Amir Kamal stoppage time strike blows away Guinea’s first victory in the African World Cup qualifiers.
Guinea failed to beat Sudan in Stade Adrar in Agadir, Morocco, to record their first victory in their Africa World Cup qualifiers to Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Their first two games had all ended up in 1-1 draw against Guinea-Bissau and Sudan respectively before throwing away their first win of their journey in stoppage time against Sudan’s return leg.
Having met last Wednesday in Marakech, Mohamed Bayo put Guinea ahead in the second half and while they seemed to be ending the game with a victory, Malik Bakhit 18’ minutes after Guinea’s goal equalized for Sudan who have been playing their qualifying home games in Morocco.
The draw was a major boost for Guinea with anticipated second leg win against the same opponents awaits them three days later. Though Morocco stand a huge obstacle for Guinea’s topping of Group I that will see them progress to the next round of journey.

Morocco take on their recent losers Guinea-Bissau who play as the home side in the return leg today’s evening as the North African side hold huge advantage with the tie been played at their own backyard in Casablanca just like the first leg at Rabat.
Guinea struggled in the first half after Sudan looking more determined side. However, they were broke three minutes into the second half after Jose Kante put Guinea ahead.
Sudan responded but until 64′ minute when Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud scored. With Guinea determined to end the game with a victory, they restored their lead just three minutes after Sudan’s equalizer when first leg opener Mohamed Bayo grabbed his second goal of the qualifiers.
Guinea were on the way to their first victory but Amir Kamal broke the Guinea defense to incur a heart-breaking equalizer on 88′ minute as the game ended 2-2 in Marakech.
Guinea will face Morocco in their next fixture on Tuesday evening before having until November to host Guinea-Bissau in their fifth African World Cup qualifying game.
