Andre Onana shines for Inter Milan in Champions League 3-3 draw against FC Barcelona

Cameroonian shot-stopper Andre Onana shined for Inter Milan in UEFA Champions League against FC Barcelona on Wednesday evening. The Cameroonian International manned the post when Inter Milan defeated the Laliga side 1-0 at San Siro last Tuesday.

The former Ajax goal-keeper was called into action on Wednesday game in a difficult game against FC Barcelona who were desperate for a win to boost the last 16 round chances.

Onana picked first ball from his net 40 minutes later following Ousmane Dembélé’s strike. The Frenchman goal gave Barcelona a 1-0 advantage in the first half.

Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella pulled the leveler 10′ minutes into the second half and Simone Inzaghi went ahead following Lautaro Martínez strike that hit the posts 13′ minutes later.

Barcelona piled the pressure for the equalizer as Robert Lewandowski fired a carpet shot off Onana to back of the net. Inter Milan had failed to clear the lines from Lewandowski’s initial header. Onana should have done something the save Lewandowski’s effort but failed.

Inter went ahead for a second time in the game after a swift counter-attack saw Robin Gosens struck home at the far posts. In moments of drama in later part of the game, Robert Lewandowski rise above Inter’s defense to head home Eric García’s cross.

With Bayern beating Viktoria Plzeň 4-2 away, the Bundesliga side have qualified to round 16 with a 100 percent record so far while Onana’s Inter Milan, who sit second place in Group C with 7 points 5 more below Bayern, battle Barcelona, who have 4 points after 4 games, for the second spot into last 16 of the Champions League.

Onana was linked with a summer move to Barcelona before he finally secured a deal to the Serie A side for the 2022-2023 season.
