Senegal name star-studded squad for Egypt World Cup playoff with majority of AFCON players maintained

Reigning AFCON champions Senegal have announced their squad for their double-header against Egypt in the final round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Egypt are set to face Senegal in a repeat of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final, but this time in final playoff of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The Lions of Teranga had topped Group H with 16 points from five wins and a draw, while the Pharaohs collected 14 points as they also won their group.

The first leg is scheduled to be played on the 25th of March at 5:00 PM CLT, while the second leg will take place four days later at 5:00 PM CLT on the 29th of the same month.

Senegal will come into the game with a star-studded squad, including the likes of Liverpool star Sadio Mane, PSG’s Idrissa Gana Gueye, Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli to name a few.

While Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy is present, Senegal will go into the games without their backup keepers Alfred Gomis and Seny Dieng.

The only player based in Senegal is backup keeper Alioune Badara Faty, who plies his trade at Casa Sports.
