Sadio Mane sends Mohamed Salah message after World Cup heartbreak

Senegalese forward Sadio Mane expressed happiness after advancing to the 2022 World Cup by beating Egypt in a penalty shootout.

Egypt’s dreams of reaching the World Cup were shattered following a penalty shootout defeat to Senegal that saw Mohamed Salah, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, and Mostafa Mohamed all miss from the spot.

The Lions of Teranga, who came out on top, will be representing Africa in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Mane, who scored his team’s winning penalty, didn’t hide his happiness after the game, expressing pride for winning the Africa Cup of Nations and qualifying for the World Cup in the span of two months.

“I believe it was a difficult game for both teams,” Sadio told ONTime Sports.

“Our fans pushed us to win and we didn’t stop fighting. We knew the game wouldn’t be easy but we pressed to score.”

Mane was then asked about what he would say to Salah, to which he replied: “I won twice and he lost twice, I was luckier to come out on top.

“I am very proud that we won the Africa Cup of Nations and now qualified for the World Cup, it’s a dream I had.”
