Al Ahly announce Marcel Koller as new coach following sack of Ricardo Soares

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have confirmed their new head coach following the departure of Portuguese tactician Ricardo Soares.

Soares was relieved of his duties last week after the Red Devils lost the Egypt Cup final while the team also finished in the Egyptian Premier League.

The 10-time CAF Champions League winners have now appointed Swiss tactician Marcel Koller as their new head coach.

The Swiss manager will be unveiled to the media on Monday.

Statement

:We are delighted to announce that Marcel Koller will be our new manager for the next two years.

“The coach will arrive in Cairo on Saturday with his three assistants to start his mission with The Red Eagles.

“Marcel Koller, Welcome to Al Ahly.

Koller has previously managed FC Basel, VFL Bochum and FC Koln while he also spent six years as the head of the Austrian men’s national side.
