Al Ahly held to goalless draw in pre-season friendly against Petrojet

Al Ahly have been held to a goalless draw by Petrojet in a friendly as the Reds start preparing for the Egypt Super Cup and the remainder of the Egypt Cup.

On September 21, Al Ahly will come up against El-Gaish in the 2020 Egypt Super Cup at Borg El-Arab, before resuming the Egypt Cup a couple of days after.

To prepare for the upcoming competitions, Al Ahly have secheduled two friendlies, the first of which took place against second-division club Petrojet FC.

New signing Hossam Hassan made the starting XI as well as returnees Amaar Hamdi and Arabi Badr, with Ali Lotfi starting between the sticks. Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim, Rami Rabia, and Mahmoud Wahid, Kahraba, Walid Soliman, and Taher Mohamed completed the rest of the squad.

Al Ahly totally dominated the first-half, but couldn’t find the back of the net, with the second-half witnessing several youngsters coming on, most notably Ahmed Abdelkader, who spent last season at Smouha, Mohamed Mahmoud, and new signing Karim Fouad.

The latter was the Reds’ key player and won Al Ahly a penalty in the 74th minute; however, Abdelkader missed the chance to give his the win, as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Pitso Mosimane’s men will next face Arab Contractors in another friendly on September 16, five days before the Egypt Super Cup.
