Nigeria International and Smouha forward Junior Ajayi out of action for weeks due to severe injury

Nigeria international Junior Ajayi is set to be out of action for more than two months after suffering a leg injury.

Ajayi had completed his return to the Egyptian Premier League after joining Smouha from Libyan side Al-Nasr Benghazi back in July.

The 26-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year contract that will keep him at Smouha until the summer of 2025.

Smouha have already kicked off their pre-season with their most recent friendly encounter coming against El-Qanah FC on Thursday.

During the game, Ajayi was involved in a severe collision that saw the Nigerian stretchered off the pitch amid huge concern from Smouha’s technical staff.

Medical scans later confirmed that Ajayi has fractured the tibial shaft in his lower leg and is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Sources within the club expect his recovery process to take up to 10 weeks with a potential return likely to be at the end of December.
