Egyptian star Mayar Sherif keeps advancing in Women’s Tennis Association ranking

Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif kept improving her rank as she came in her highest-ever placing in the latest WTA ranking.

In August, Mayar Sherif became the first Egyptian woman to break into the top 100 WTA ranking when she was placed 96th.

The 25-year-old then had a huge jump when she improved her ranking to 74th after an extraordinary US Open run followed by a Liqui Moly Open victory.

In the latest WTA ranking, Sherif’s ranking was even higher as she came in 72nd place, which is the highest she ever got.

Mayar is now the second-highest ranked African tennis player behind Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur who has also improved her ranking.

Ons is now 14th in the WTA ranking which is her personal best, as well as the highest any Arab female player could reach.

Jabeur’s improved ranking was the result of her incredible run at the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, as she reached the tournament’s final.
