Al Ahly Handball goalkeeper Mohamed El Tayar set to join DHfK Leipzig

Al Ahly have announced the departure of the men’s handball team goalkeeper Mohamed Essam El Tayar to German outfit DHfK Leipzig.

El Tayar started his career among Al Ahly ranks, showing a lot of potential from a young age, leading to him joining the Egyptian national team on multiple occasions.

In 2021, El Tayar was a part of the Egypt squad that came seventh in the World Championship, making impressive shows to prove his skills as a goalkeeper.

A few months after that, the 26-year-old shone even further with the national team in their historic run in the Tokyo Olympics, reaching the semi-finals for the first time in history.

While El Tayar is considered to be an important asset for Al Ahly, the club stated that they will be allowing their player to go abroad in order to gain new experiences to further improve to benefit both the club and the national team.

It’s worth noting that DHfK Leipzig are currently eighth on the Handball-Bundesliga table, with their eyes set on a continental competition qualifying spot.
