Ghana current leadership has lost integrity completely, say Tamale North MP
Member of Parliament for Tamale North constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini has stressed on the importance of integrity in fighting corruption.
According to him, without integrity the fight against corruption is needless.
Speaking on Joy News’ ‘AM show’ on July 28, he indicated that, Ghana’s current leadership has no integrity.
Juxtaposing Akufo-Addo’s leadership with the late former President John Evans Atta Mills, he noted that the latter had his integrity high at all times.
In replying the host’s question on how corruption can be rooted out, Mr. Suhuyini indicated that “leadership is key. Again, permit me to refer to President Atta Mills. When he passed, everyone was unanimous when it came to his integrity and that is why Tsatsu Tsikatas lecture at his tenth anniversary for me is one that be must all try to inculcate in our way of life.”
When asked if he felt integrity has been lost in the current leadership of the country he said “completely, integrity is key when it comes to fighting corruption.”
His comment follows the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) Afrobarometer report on the most corrupt institutions in the country.
The report ranked the Ghana Police Service as the most corrupt institution followed by the Presidency, Parliament and Judiciary.
