Zamalek considering move for Wydad Casablanca ace Yahya Jabrane

Zamalek are reportedly considering a summer move for Yahya Jabrane from Wydad Athletic Club according to reports.

The Moroccan International appears one of the best defensive midfielders in African club football last season along with Al Ahly’s Aliou Dieng, Fousseny Coulibaly of Esperance de Tunis, Mvala of Mamelodi Sundowns and Benjamin Afutu of Hearts of Oak.

However, in terms of experience in continental football, Jabrane is primarily, if not the best, among the first top two of most experienced best players and that is what Zamalek are reportedly looking for ahead of next season.

Jabrane’s 2-and-half seasons at Wydad has given him a lot to learn about the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup since joining in January of 2019 transfer window.

The 30-year old joined Wydad from Dibba Al-Fujairah in United Arab Emirates Division 1. Jabrane has helped the Moroccan outfit to semifinals of the Caf Champions League- that Zamalek will be participating in this term.

The Egyptian side will be hoping to make big statement in the next African competition after winning the Egyptian Premier League first time in seven years beating Al Ahly in last stages of just ended domestic title.

Their rivals have imminently began their summer transfer activity after announcing deals for Lius Miquissone from Simba SC, Karim Fouad from Nogoom FC and Percy Tau from English top side Brighton.

Zamalek may follow suit having been linked with a couple of players since the end of the Egyptian league. Jabrane is reportedly one of the latest with the Egyptian Premier League champions considering a bid for the Moroccan International.

Patrice Carteron’s side are also understood to have eyes on another Wydad man Walid El-Karti and according to reports in Egyptian outlet Middleeastin24, Zamalek have a semifinals agreement with Moroccan Premier League champions to land in particular El-Karti.

Zamalek’s move for the later has been on the backdrop of finding replacement for Tunisian International Ferjani Sassi who has completed a summer move Qatari side Al-Duhail.

Carteron is believed to see El-Karti as the perfect man to replace Sassi and according to previous reports in Egyptian outlet Kingfut, Wydad have confirmed Zamalek’s interest in the Moroccan International.

“Zamalek (only) requested to sign El-Karti, but no agreement has been reached,” Wydad president Said Naciri said in the media.

“Now we will present the matter to the player, and he will decide.

“Over the past years, the player has received a large number of offers, and we were asking him to stay, and he was grateful.

“I hope he will stay with us for a longer period, but we want to give him the opportunity, especially in the event of a good offer.

“I can only say that Walid will go to Zamalek when he goes, now it is up to the player himself,” he added.

Kingfut’s report was way before the report in Middleeastin24, which if anything in the latter source is to go by, Zamalek have opened negotiations with Wydad Casablanca and have contacted El-Karti himself.

It is understood that the player has reached personal terms with the Egyptian champions with few details with Wydad holding back the deal.

And while they are heading faster in completing a move for El-Karti, they are hopeful of securing the signature of Yahya Jabrane which Wydad may consider selling.

Jabrane’s contract at Wydad expires at the end of next season with no agreement for extension in place.
