Al Ahly are set to unveil Pitso Mosimane as new manager this weekend according to reports from Egypt.

The Egyptian giants will definitely part ways with Rene Weiler with announcement expected to come today Thursday.

In the Swiss’ capacity at Cairo would be replaced by Mosimane who has long been monitored by the North African giants. The South African International resigned from his post at Mametlodi Sundowns last Wednesday to take over the managerial role at Ahly.

Though it appears no confirmation from Ahly of Mosimane’s arrival has been made, Sundowns have released a statement linking their former boss to a top Egyptian side supposedly Ahly.

Pitso Mosimane and his agent Moira Tlhagale, who is also his wife, came to brief me on the discussions between Pitso Mosimane and a top Egyptian club. Sundowns has been aware of the ongoing discussions between Pitso Mosimane and the Egyptian club and with other North African clubs.

‘I have on several occasions over the past few years expressed my support for Pitso Mosimane leaving Sundowns to coach in North Africa or Europe or Bafana Bafana. Football players and coaches have at times an uncertain and inconsistent future and must pursue new opportunities where they may grow and receive greater remuneration.”

According to a report in Goal, the Eight time Caf Champions League winners will unveil Mosimane this Saturday. Meanwhile, Pitso himself confirmed his tenure of office with Egyptian side (Ahly) will officially begin on Friday 2nd October.

“It is with pride and gratitude that I have accepted an offer to join an international side with effect from the 2nd of October 2020,” confirmed Mosimane in a video he posted on his Twitter account.

Weiler’s departure from Cairo International stadium comes on a short term, just a month into his one year contract renewal. The 47-year old has guided Ahly to triumph in Egyptian Cup and the Egyptian Premier League despite less than five matches to end the current season.

Weiler crushed out Mosimane’s Mamelodi Sundowns to reach semifinals of the African Champions League but his tactics are reportedly unconvincing to Ahly officials, and would be fired at the end of this term.

On his pending replacement Mosimane, he has won five PSL titles including snatching this season’s ABSA Premiership trophy from rivals Kaizer Chiefs in last round matches of South African top flight league.

However, his African campaign was suddenly ended by the man he could replace at Ahly. Mosimane signed a new contract extension at Sundowns that was to seem him there till end on 2024 season but will soon be confirmed Ahly boss.
